Why All Black Will Always Be My Fashion Fave

If in doubt, go for all black. Well, if you’re me, at least. All black is timeless, flattering and makes a statement, whilst being the perfect way to incorporate different trends without looking too busy. We all have a comfort zone when it comes to fashion, and whilst in reality, mine is supersoft jogging bottoms and a baggy tee, to the outside world, it’s all black. It’s my uniform when it comes to workwear, and if I want to feel effortlessly chic without having to put too much thought into it (which, let’s be real, we all do when it comes to “effortless”), it’s my ultimate go-to.

As we’re all starting to get excited about the new A/W16 season, I’ve started working in new layering pieces into my wardrobe. This simple faux suede gilet is one of them – there’s added interest thanks to the texture and delicate silver hardware, but the lightweight fabric and minimal design mean that it’s perfect for popping over the top of anything without detracting from the overall look. Pair that with a tailored bardot top with tie sleeve detailing, some distressed black skinnies and black shoes, and you have the perfect, pulled together yet effortless all black look.
