Heading to a blogging event or want to spend an evening in London? Finding Insta worthy places to stay and eat whilst on a budget can be tough whilst you’re in the big city, but fear not! I’ve pulled together a whistle stop budget tour to staying and eating in London, allowing you to avoid any hotel with red carpets and any crappy visits to Frankie and Benny’s. If you have any top recommendations yourselves, do let me know in the comments down below or on Twitter/Instagram, as I’m always looking for the latest places to go! (p.s. none of this is sponsored, I’m just trying to help you guys and gals out!)
Where To Stay
Despite turning up at the wrong hotel (cleverly took myself to the Soho branch, instead of Shoreditch), The Z Hotel turned out to be the perfect budget stay. A short tube journey away from any central location, the whole hotel is clean with a modern aesthetic. The bedrooms are fairly compact but with a minimal design, boasting a looooovely big white bed and a huge TV mounted on the wall. Each room has an ensuite bathroom and ours had a big powerful shower, although I would say that as the wall is glass and only half is frosted, it’s probably not best for sharing if you aren’t with your significant other or best friend.
There are the much needed tea and coffee amenities and hangers for all your bits and bobs, so everything you need is covered in the relatively small price tag. We paid £80 for the night which didn’t include breakfast, but we did see people chowing down in the morning and it definitely looked worth the extra. All in all, I honestly couldn’t recommend The Z Hotel enough if you’re looking for a beautiful but budget place to stay.
Where To Eat
The Breakfast Club
Do you love breakfast? Do you love hipster decor? Do you love both of those things combined? Then The Breakfast Club is for you. This super popular chain can be found all over London, and we headed to the nearest branch to our hotel in Rufus Street, Hoxton. With a menu literally dedicated to all the breakfast food you could ever want, I opted for my breakfast staple – poached eggs on toast with a side of beans. Keiran went for the Full English (swapping out the mushrooms and tomatoes for extra eggs and meat, such a L.A.D.) and, as a boy who loves his breakfast food, his rave review means it must have been good. Drinks wise we both opted for bog standard teas (at the time I was trying to give up coffee but I’ve failed and I regret every time I’ve turned it down), and we both left with very full and very happy bellies. Just a warning – The Breakfast Club gets very busy and people often queue out of the door, so be sure to get there outside of peak times to ensure you aren’t left waiting with a grumbling tum!
