As a blogger, bulk shooting is often a must. I live in a
fairly residential area, so the white brick walls and city buildings I like for
my backdrops are more than always more than a five minute walk away. Add to
that the fact that both I and my forced photographer work throughout the week
and the weather is far from kind to us, when the weekends roll around, I have
to seize the moment to get all of my shooting done.

The amount of outfits I have to shoot each week varies. It’s
always at least two, but I’ve done up to six in one day and I know a lot of
other bloggers go way over this amount. If you’re not a blogger then it’s easy
to be fooled into thinking that this is easy work, but it’s actually really
time consuming, totally hectic and by the end of the day, totally exhausting.

Bulk shooting is something that needs to be meticulously
planned. I feel like I’m pretty skilled in this area now having dedicated
nearly every weekend to it over the past two and a half years, so I thought I
would pull together my top tips for bulk shooting (including the tips I
endlessly forget myself, like charging up my camera battery *definitelydidn’tdothistoday**definitelydid*).

Plan ahead and write it down
If you have multiple looks to shoot, it’s easy to lose track of which shoes go with which outfit and which earrings to pair with which hairstyle. Just bundling it all together in a suitcase and hoping for the best only ever ends disastrously; put pen to paper and number each outfit, detailing which pieces are included and for what brands. Rip it out, take a picture of it or even laminate that sucker – it will make life so much easier when it comes to packing your case and pulling together looks on the day.
Be prepared and cover the basics
You have no idea how many times I’ve carefully planned my list of outfits, packed everything strategically and gone to shoot, only to find I’ve left my memory card in my laptop or my battery is nearly dead. Make it a routine to charge your battery on certain days and set an alarm to remember your memory card, because trust me, there’s nothing more annoying than getting to location and realising that it’s been a wasted journey.

Multiple pairs of shoes on top of 5 different pairs of ripped
jeans and 2 leather jackets quickly gets heavy – not to mention the essential
make up products (read: make up BAGS) that you have to take along for touch ups
and ‘what ifs’. Trying to lug this around in a holdall is a lost cause, my
friend. Opt for a case, and opt for one with four twisty wheels so you can
simply glide around like the sassy prin’ you are. The one featured is from
American Tourister, and honestly, having a hard shell with 360 degree wheels
has changed my blogging game forever. No more stuffing into bags, no more
pulling along heavy cases on two wheels – I’m a glide and go girl, now.

explode. Having a chill photographer on hand to calm you down helps, but my
best advice is to take breaks in-between. Fretting over securing the perfect
action shot quickly builds up, so hit the pause button when you need it and
grab an iced latte and baked good of your choice. Heck, even Instagram the shit
out of it, but make sure you’re taking a moment to breath. Both you and your
photographer will thank you for it later.
