STEP ONE: PREP THE SKIN
Good foundation is great, but a good base is better. Start with fresh, clean skin and apply the Glowtion Day Dew all over. If you aren’t a fan of wearing foundation in the summer you can either pop a BB/CC cream over the top, or wear this cream alone. It blurs imperfections and evens out your skintone, giving you that natural glow that is perfect for the summer months. I went ahead and popped on some foundation, concealer and brow pencil because I feel naked without it and because my skin is feeling the stress of deadlines at the moment, but this look can easily be achieved without it.
STEP TWO: ADD GOLD & LENGTHEN LASHES
Typically I’m a mid-brown all over the eyes kind of girl, but when it comes to creating a natural glow, nothing does it better than a wash of gold. Combining the light taupe and gold eye shadow colours from the Copper Peach Mineral Palette, I applied the shades all over the lid as well as in the inner corner to brighten up the eyes and create a subtle hint of colour. These eye shadows are super pigmented so you might need to do a little cleaning up of fallout, but the colour pay off is amazing and because of this, they last all day. I then applied my usual cat eyeliner, before adding lashings of the Length Fiber Mascara. It uses fibers to elongate the lashes and is totally buildable, so if you don’t fancy the dramatic lash look that I’ve gone for here, you can keep it more understated with only one or two coats.
STEP THREE: BRONZE, BRONZE, BRONZE
What summer look is complete without bronzer? All that was left to do was to bronze up my cheeks, forehead and jawline, all using the compact Quick Fix Bronzer. This travel friendly bronzer comes with a puff and mirror all built into the lid, so you can top up your bronzer on the go or apply sans-brush. As I like to go pretty heavy with my bronzer I did use a brush to blend, but this is definitely one I’ll be popping in my bag for day to night top ups. After this I applied a little highlighter to my cheekbones and brow bone, before powdering the places I tend to get oily throughout the day.
(POP OF COLOUR) STEP 4: POP OF PEACH
During the day, I typically apply a bit of a lip balm and let that be that. I have super pigmented lips anyway, so by the end of the day I look like I’m wearing Ruby Woo whether I’ve put it on or not. However, I don’t think anything ties together a make-up look quite like a slick of lipstick. I wanted to add a pop of colour but still keep the look super natural, so I applied the Mattelustre Lipstick in Peach Blossom all over in gentle dabs, before blending together with my finger. Add more for a more intense colour, or less for the leftovers-of-a-lipstain look.
(POP OF COLOUR) STEP FIVE: BLUE LINER
Want to add more colour or take your look from day to night? I gotchu girl. Just add a sweep of the Endless Silky Eye Pen in Cobalt Blue to your waterline to further define the eyes. These Pixi pencils are gel-based and so glide onto the skin super easily, meaning you could apply this to the lid and smudge out for a statement smoky look. They’re also super long-lasting so you don’t need to worry about your colour melting off during the day.
